Special “Help, My User Group is Shutting Down! Where Can I Get Help?” Meeting

MacPeople Meeting: Thursday, November 10, 2016 6:00 – 8:30

The next meeting of the MacPeople Gainesville Area Macintosh Users Group will be on Thursday, November 10, 2016, from 6:00-8:30 pm in the University of Florida Entomology-Nematology Bldg., room 1031 (building in the woods just east of the Performing Arts Center). Need Directions?

6:00 – 6:50 –  Question and Answer
An informal Question and Answer session lead by one of our volunteers. Bring your problems questions and with our philosophy of “members helping members” the group will use our collective knowledge to help you find a solution.

6:50 – 7:00 – Announcements and Break
Refreshments will be available during the break.

7:00 – 7:20 – Tips to Improve Your Google Search Results – Rick
Trying to find the answer to a computer problem but not finding any results that are helpful? Use these tips to get better search results. Applicable to any search, not just computer related topics.

7:20 – 7:50 – Getting Help with Your Mac or iOS Device – Rick
As our last traditional meeting with Q&A and educational topics (December 8th will be our holiday party and special MacPeople farewell meeting), we’ll discuss how to get help with your computers, tablets, and phones. A wide variety of resources such as websites, books, podcasts, support sites, and local resources will be covered and the list will be made available.

7:50 – 8:00 – Prize Drawing
We invite you to participate in our monthly prize drawing. A selection of Apple and/or technology related prizes will be available. Please see the treasurer no later than 15 minutes prior to the drawing to purchase your tickets.

8:00 – 8:30 – New MacBook Pro and Possible Future Mac Releases – Rick
Apple announced a long overdue update to the MacBook Pro, one of their most key products in the Mac lineup. No other Mac announcement has garnered more angst than this new product. We’ll talk about the good, the bad, and what I’m affectionately calling DongleGate. Also I’ll take a speculative look ahead at new Macs likely to be updated in 2017.
