Next Meeting: August 14, 2014

MacPeople Meeting:
Thursday, August 14, 2014 6:00 – 8:30

The next meeting of the MacPeople Gainesville Area Macintosh Users Group will be on Thursday, August 14, 2014, from 6:00-8:30 pm in the University of Florida Entomology-Nematology Bldg., room 1031 (building in the woods just east of the Performing Arts Center). Need Directions?

6:00 – 6:50 –  Question and Answer
An informal Question and Answer session lead by one of our volunteers. Bring your problems questions and with our philosophy of “members helping members” the group will use our collective knowledge to help you find a solution.

6:50 – 7:00 – Announcements and Break
Refreshments will be available during the break. As a courtesy to other members, we request the refreshments not be opened until our scheduled break. Please, help yourself to the coffee at anytime.

7:00 – 7:20 – PopClip – Ellen
PopClip is an application for your Mac. Once installed, the PopClip menu appears when you select text with your mouse on your Mac. Instantly copy & paste, and access actions like search, spelling, dictionary and over 110 more. Ellen gives us an overview of this useful utility and how it can be used to increase productivity.

7:20 – 7:50 – Creating Photo Books with Shutterfly – Vibeke
Summer is here and you probably have lots of photos from your summer vacation. Wouldn’t you like to share those photos with friends and family in a beautiful photo book? Vibeke shows us how this can be done using the Shutterfly online photo service.

7:50 – 8:00 – Prize Drawing
We invite you to participate in our monthly prize drawing. A selection of Apple and/or technology related prizes will be available. Please see the treasurer no later than 15 minutes prior to the drawing to purchase your tickets.

8:00 – 8:30 – App Show and Tell – MacPeople Members
Members are encouraged to bring their iOS devices and take 3-5 minutes to show off their favorite applications to the group. Presentations are informal. You can connect your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch to our club Apple TV via AirPlay (we’ll help if you don’t know how to do this) and show us one of your favorite Apps, explain briefly what it does and why you use it.
